More than a portrait of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight - a unique fusion of aviation history and classic art...
This fascinating documentary combines the rich history of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight with the story of a painting by one of Britain's top aviation artists, immortalising its remarkable aircraft.
The programme is presented by ex-RAF pilot and current airliner Captain Nick Stein, and artist Robin Smith GAvA, whose paintings are much loved the world over for their remarkable depictions of aviation subjects. Nick will introduce you to aircraft and crew of the BBMF at RAF Coningsby, where you'll get a feel for the Spitfire, Lancaster and Hurricane aircraft which form part of its historic collection. In addition you'll follow the story of an amazing painting of the BBMF aircraft, from conception through to completion as Robin puts oil to canvas. While Nick and the aircrew give you an up close view of the aircraft, Robin guides you through the artistic process. En-route you'll get a unique insight to the painting techniques and plenty of advice and top tips too!
Giving a great overview of the BBMF and classic aviation art, this programme provides a wealth of detail for both the enthusiast and artist. This DVD is remastered from the original rushes in ITVV's digital broadcast-quality facilities to give you unrivalled picture and sound quality.
